Hey! Looks like we'll be seeing each other one more time before the month ends. This time, I've done some more bug fixes, redesigns, and added a new mode, so I hope you enjoy what's new for MemorIQ.
This is new mode I made in my spare time using scraps of hosting and a lot of trail and error. It's my take on a trivia game that requires a lot more strategy and thinking. Before each match, a topic is chosen at random, which will be the central theme of the entire game. 10 questions will be randomly chosen from Curated Sets, which are sets either the Admin Team have created or student-made ones that we really like and want to include into the game. To make this work, we've also added topics to set creation for users to choose from. These topics come with unique colors, so students can see what topic that particular set corresponds to! Going back to the game now (sorry), we've changed how getting points works: You first choose a multiplier based on how confident you believe you can answer the question, and then that multiplier is, as you guessed it, multiplied against speed points which go down the slower you answer. This new system was implemented to (hopefully) prevent someone from just quickly googling the answer and then taking all the points while also making games more interactive. Please note that I've also added some bots to join lobbies when finding a game takes too long, so players can still enjoy the new gamemode even if not a lot of people play it.
This is a new feature of Study Mode that I'm pretty proud of: Study Suggestions are a new type of card that are added to the review part of Study Mode after you've completed a quiz. They take the questions you've missed, and then act kinda like pseudo-quizzes, making you answer the front question again to see if you know it before the quiz. After taking the quiz again, these cards either go away if you get the question correct or persist if you keep getting it wrong.
Ever wanted to level up faster? Well here are some missions! These are a bunch of stuff that you can do around the site to level up faster, such as playing a quick match game, studying review cards, and playing a hosted game, aka just interact with the site lol. There's 2 types, daily and weekly, and you can get an xp bonus if you set a certain mission you want to do as your Active Mission. Just a small fun addition I thought would be fun.
Dropdown menus have been drastically revamped, backgrounds have been changed, browse has got a clean new look, and alot of other features that you'll find add to the overall aesthetic of the site.
In an effort to make smart grading more accurate, I've added a feature that takes answers that are deemed right and adds them to a pool that allows me to refine and develop a better grading system. Responses are not tied to your account, and you always have the option to opt out. For more information about how data is handled, our terms and service and privacy policy can be found on the bottom of the landing page.
Besides that, this update was focused on delivering features that weren't quite ready for Part 1 of the update as well as delivering further optimization, bug fixes, and cool little features you might enjoy. I hope you continue to enjoy MemorIQ and the features it offers, and I'll see you in April for the next update log. - The Admin Team
